DESCRIPTION: Interesting early Austro-Hungarian semi-automatic pistol. The pistol was designed by Karel Krnka in the early years of the 20th Century. The prototype was build in 1904. Consequently, it was patented by Karel Krnka and Georg Roth. Georg Roth was an employer of Karel Krnka at the time, hence he became a co-owner of patent rights. Since Georg Roth did not have a gun factory (he was an ammo maker), the production was set up at the Waffenfabrik Steyr. Initially, the pistol was offered on the commercial market as "Roth Steyr M.1905". In 1907, the pistol was adopted by Austro-Hungarian cavalry as "Model 1907". The pistols of this type were widely used during the World War One. Manufactured by Waffenfabrik Steyr in 1909, as indicated by markings on the frame of the pistol. The back of the frame displays Austro-Hungarian proof marks, "W-n, Double Head Eagle, 09". The regimental ring on the right side grip displays following markings, "5 L.U.R. 224" (5 Landwehr Ulanen Regiment). Fixed front and rear sights. All matching serial numbers. Excellent quality machining and polishing! CONDITION: Fine+. 92-93% of original blue still on the metal. Couple of spots of light patina and occasional peppering. The blue is worn mostly on the edges of the frame and barrel housing (holster wear). Couple of spots of micro-pitting (blood pitting?) on the front part of the barrel housing. The major difference is a lack of the Roman numeral, "III" on the right side of the frame just in front of the cylinder. Mechanically, Model 1872 revolver was similar to Model 1867, except for the new ejector system. The top of the octagonal barrel displays following wording, "ADAMS'S PATENT SMALL ARMS CO.. 391, STRAND, LONDON". Right side of the frame is marked, "ADAMS'S PATENT", and, "JA TRADE MARK". Several English proofs are stamped on the frame, barrel and cylinder. Octagonal barrel. Six shot cylinder. The cylinder and frame show matching serial numbers. No serial numbers are visible on other external parts of the revolver. Barrel length: 6 inches. Very nice one piece hardwood grip with diamond checkering. The revolver has all blue finish, except for the hammer and ejector that have polished steel finish (now covered with brown patina). Complete with the lanyard ring. CONDITION: Overall in fine condition with about 85% of original finish turning to uniform brown patina. Occasional peppering and/or light surface rust. No pitting of any kind. Some light dings and scratches are visible on the cylinder and on the cylinder bridge. One piece grip with diamond checkering is in excellent condition. The double action works fine. The single action does not work - the hammer does not stay cocked. Fine bore with strong rifling. The cylinder chambers are also in fine condition. Serial# 58XX. (Ref.: "Howdah to High Power" by Robert J. Maze, pp. 10-14). |

The retailer markings are nicely engraved on the cylinder bridge, "I. Hollis & Sohn, London". House of Birmingham proofs are stamped on the cylinder, frame and barrel. CONDITION: Very good. 68-70% of metal is covered by uniform, uncleaned brown patina. The balance is in white. Very good bore and chambers. The one-piece wooden grip with diamond checkering is slightly worn. There is a repair/restoration in the upper part of the grip (please, see pictures). DESCRIPTION: Very scarce and interesting English medium frame Thomas patent self-extracting revolver! It is so designed that by pressing a catch located forward of the trigger guard and giving a half turn to a bolt fixed on the underside of the barrel, the cylinder was drawn forward by a powerful camming action designed to loosen the spent cases in the chambers. This also released the barrel from the frame of the pistol, so that it could be thrust forward to the full extent of its travel, thus ejecting all empty cases from the cylinder. Before reloading, it was necessary to return the barrel and cylinder to their original position, so that fresh cartridges could be loaded through the loading gate on the right hand side of the breech. Patented in 1869, this was the first English revolver to make any attempt at simultaneous extraction and self-ejection. Left side of the frame is marked, "Thomas's Patent No.779, No.594". Left side of the octagonal barrel and cylinder display following wording, "Cast Steel". Left side of the octagonal barrel displays a caliber designation, "380". Cylinder bridge is marked, "C. Bell" (retailer?). House of Birmingham proofs are stamped on the cylinder. Double action only. Fixed front and rear sights. Five chamber cylinder. Barrel length: 3 inch. The barrel is unusually short for this type of the revolver. It was either manufactured this way, or perhaps the barrel was shortened long time ago. CONDITION: Fine with 35% of blue, with balance being a mixture of white metal and brownish patina. Excellent bore with strong and shiny rifling. The cylinder chambers are also in excellent condition. Original one-piece wooden grip with diamond checkering, is in very good condition, with only few handling marks. No cracks in the wood. Very strong action. All the markings and numbers are clearly visible on metal. All the internal parts of the revolver are in fine condition, with no obvious wear. Missing lanyard ring and barrel turning knob. One of the most unusual revolvers ever manufactured. Very scarce early English self extracting revolver! Antique. (Ref.: "The Revolver 1865-1888" by A.W.F. Taylerson, p.144, also in "The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Handguns" by A.B. Zhuk, p.62/367). |

DESCRIPTION: Chinese Copy of Browning 1900 semi-auto pistol. The pistol shows "Mauser Banner"(!) and wording "Brevetes GDC"on the left side of the frame. These markings usually do not make much sense, as they seem to be a combination of different European words. It is not unusual to find Chinese copies of FN M.1900 pistols with Mauser markings. Chinese gun makers found these markings to be very attractive... The left side of the slide displays a wording, "Nationale". The frame, slide and rear sight display fake Belgian proof marks. All the markings on metal are clear. The pistol has a safety lever on the left side of the frame. Matching serial numbers. All complete and original. CONDITION: Fine+. The pistol shows 85% of original, high gloss blue finish on metal parts. The balance is in white, mixed with some brown patina. Nice, original hardwood plastic grips with with diamond checkering. Action seems to be OK. Good bore. All the markings and numbers are clearly visible on the metal. All the internal parts of the pistol are in fine condition, with no visible wear. No import markings. These pistols should never be fired as they were manufactured in relatively primitive workshops. Serial# 6XX. |

DESCRIPTION: Scarce French M.1874 Chamelot Delvigne revolver intended for the civilian market. The revolver was retailed by Le Page, as indicated by markings on the barrel, "Faure Le Page a Paris" (please, see pictures). The revolver comes with a very scarce Imperial German World War One style officer shoulder holster. This may indicate that the revolver was privately purchased from Le Page by a German officer, who carried it during the World War One. The holster was custom made for this particular revolver (fits perfectly!). The wear on the revolver and holster indicate that the two were together for a very long time (a Great War bring back?). Externally, M.1874 commercial revolver is almost identical with French officer M.1874 revolver (except for the markings). Careful examination of the internal parts may reveal that they are not interchangeable with the military revolver parts. In fact, some of the M.1874 commercial revolvers have slightly different mechanism than M.1874 officer revolvers. The revolver was designed to fire a low pressure 11 mm black powder cartridge and should not be used with any other cartridge. Fluted cylinder. Fancy checkering on the hammer and loading gate. Matching serial numbers. Very high quality of machining and metal finish. Handsome, black hardwood grips with diamond checkering (ebony?). Chamelot Delvigne was one of the most reliable revolvers of 1870-s. CONDITION: Fine, with 86% of original, slightly thinning blue finish on metal. Blue is turning to brownish color in some places (mostly on the hilt and trigger guard). Occasional spots of light patina and/or peppering. Fading case coloring on the hammer, trigger and loading gate. The bore is in excellent condition, with strong and shiny rifling. Cylinder chambers are in fine condition. The action works fine. All the markings and numbers are clearly visible on the metal. Wooden grips are in excellent condition with some minor handling marks. Complete with lanyard ring. Holster is in fine condition. The leather is still soft and flexible. Original stitching. Antique. Very attractive World War One rig! Serial# 175XX. (Ref. "Military Handguns of France" by Eugene Medlin and Jean Huon., pp. 35, also in "Les Revolvers Militaires Francais" by Henri Vuillemin, p.123). |

The latter sold virtually identical pistol under the name, "Beholla". The design is a conventional blowback. Production lasted from 1915 to 1918. Menta pistols were made specifically in order to address the issue of shortage of handguns in Imperial German Army during the World War One. About 15.000 of such pistols were manufactured. Matching serial numbers. Black, hardened rubber grips with diamond checkering. Seven shot magazine. The pistol comes complete with an original World War One issue leather holster. The front part of the holster displays following markings and dates, "S. P. Werkgenossenschaft Berlin , 1915, 915, 26". CONDITION: Fine. 78% of original, thin blue finish is still on metal. DESCRIPTION: Spanish M. 1915 revolver. Basically, a good quality copy of S&W Hand Ejector revolver made in Eibar during the World War One. Some European sources identify the revolver as a Spanish copy of Bayard, Grah, or Pieper. Some other books call it a variant of M.1915. The revolvers of this type were manufactured for both, military and commercial markets by Antonio Errasti and by Guisasola in Eibar. Some other Spanish makers also manufactured similar revolvers. Wooden grips with diamond checkering. The cylinder latch lies on the yoke ahead of the cylinder. The safety lever is located on the right side of the frame, just underneath the hammer. The safety lever was most likely added when the revolver was sold as a surplus on the commercial market. CONDITION: Fine. 94% of original blue still on the metal.
