DESCRIPTION: Scarce Nazi contract Astra 300 semi auto pistol. The pistol was manufactured in 1944, based on the Spanish production code stamped on the left side of the receiver ("O"). Some researchers believe that this type of pistol, due to its small dimensions, was issued to the Luftwaffe pilots. Many pistols of this type were shipped to Nazi occupation forces in Norway. Matching serial numbers. Original hardwood grips with diamond checkering. High quality of machining and metal finish. The top of the slide displays following markings, "ASTRA Unceta y Compania Guernica Espana". The right side of the frame does not display a Nazi Waffenamt stamp, which is correct, as this pistol was a part of the last shipment made before Allies took control of the Spanish-French border (July 21, 1944, serial numbers: 615801-622600). Correct magazine with Astra's logo on its floorplate. No import markings. Very impressive blowback design! CONDITION: Excellent with 97-98% of original blue still on the metal. Strong action. Hardwood grips show some wear and handling marks (mainly on the right side). There is a small hairline crack in the right side grip, next to the screw. The bore is in excellent condition with strong and shiny rifling. All the markings and numbers are clearly visible on the metal. All the internal parts of the pistol are in excellent+ condition, with no visible wear. Nicely preserved Nazi military issue Astra 300 pistol! Serial# 6206XX. (Ref. "Guns of the Reich" by George Markham, pp.69-70, "Spanish Handguns" by Gene Gangarosa Jr., pp.131-139).
